Motor Vehicle Dealer and Car Market Operator
Licences and renewals are issued for a period of up to three years. The three-year period starts from the date the licence is approved. These fees are exempt from GST and withholding tax.
The fee paid will be based on the number of premises (yards) from which a dealer proposes to operate. A fee of $756 applies for each additional premises.

Yard manager
Licences and renewals are issued for a period of up to three years.
The licence fee for three years is $385.00.
Salesperson
Licences and renewals are issued for a period of up to three years.
The licence fee for three years is $261.00.

| Changes to ownership structure: If a dealership proposes to change its ownership structure, but the principal 'natural persons' remain the same (eg partners in a firm become directors in a body corporate operating the same dealership from the same premises), the dealership can seek to amend the ownership details for a fee of $122.00. (Note: If a dealership is sold to a new entity, then the new entity must acquire a dealer's licence and the original entity must surrender its licence.) |
