Travel Compensation Fund
Compensation and licensed travel agents
The Travel Compensation Fund can assist consumers by reimbursing them the cost of their travel expenses if the licensed travel agency which booked their travel goes bankrupt or into liquidation or if the business has been abandoned. A claim form must be lodged and assessed for payment. Emergency help can also be provided.
The Travel Compensation Fund does not generally provide compensation for losses other than money paid to a licensed travel agent. If you wish to be covered for other losses, such as theft of personal items, you may wish to consider taking out separate travel insurance.
