The Australian Consumer Law website is updated regularly with consultations and published submissions.

The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) is seeking feedback about what charities and the public think about their regulatory approach. Submissions close Friday 1 March 2013.

Treasury has also released draft regulations and accompanying explanatory material outlining the proposed financial reporting requirements applying to charities registered with the ACNC. Comments are sought on the draft regulations by Friday 15 February 2013.

Feedback is being sought on the Governance Standards for the Not-for-profit Sector a consultation paper has been released and submissions closing date is Friday 15 February 2013.

The Council of Australian Governments (COAG) released the consultation regulatory impact assessment (RIA) to examine ways to reduce regulatory duplication between the proposed Commonwealth governance and reporting standards and existing State and Territory requirements for charities registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission. Feedback is being sought on the paper, Regulatory Impact Assessment of Potential Duplication of Governance and Reporting Standards for Charities. Submissions close on 21 February 2013.

National occupational licensing consultation Stakeholder submissions are available online. The consultation reviewed the impact of the proposal to replace the current state and territory licensing of the Property, Plumbing and Gas fitting and Refrigeration and Air-conditioning occupational areas.

The Australian Consumer Survey report is now available. This baseline study examined national consumer and business experiences and understanding of consumer laws, their application and enforcement.

Paying for funerals: How consumers decide to meet the costs. This ASIC report describes how some consumers try to make sure that there is sufficient money available to cover the cost of their funeral. One option available to consumers is to save, but this is not always a feasible option especially for those on limited incomes.
