A Bridgetown man who undertook unlicensed plumbing work has been fined $500 with costs of $155 in the Bridgetown Magistrates Court.
Anthony Reginald Pillinger of Bridgetown installed a kitchen sink with flick mixer tap, extended hot and cold water supply pipes and modified sanitary piping at his property which was found to be non-compliant with Plumbing Standards and of potential health risk to occupants of the house.
“People who undertake their own plumbing repairs and modifications do so at their own peril as we are committed to investigating and prosecuting those who put others at risk by doing unlicensed work”, Chairman of the Plumbers Licensing Board Tom Hall said.
“The Plumbers Licensing Board who conducted this prosecution is committed to providing a fair and safe plumbing industry”, he said.
Mr Pillinger once being served with a rectification notice was quick to engage a licensed plumber to remedy the situation and cooperated fully with investigators.
Suspicious plumbing work should be reported to the Plumbers Licensing Board on telephone number 1300 30 40 54 or via email at consumer@docep.wa.gov.au .
