7 Day trading ends in Albany - Farm Fresh Food Market

A 7-day trading arrangement is to come to an end for the Farm Fresh Food Market site in Albany.

The Department of Consumer and Employment Protection, the government agency responsible for retail trading hours, has issued notice to traders at the site that permission to trade on Sundays will be revoked.

The department’s Director General Brian Bradley endorsed the decision sought by the City of Albany following in-depth consultation with local stakeholders including small traders located in the Farm Fresh site.

“A range of issues that affected the status of 7 day a week trading had to be taken into consideration in making our decision to revoke the permit”, Mr Bradley said.

“We have been liaising closely with some small traders whose businesses will be affected by this revocation and departmental staff will assist where possible should any of them be eligible to apply for extended trading in their own right”, he said.

The notice takes effect from 6.00 pm on 1st January 2006.
