Today, BP has increased their petrol prices by up to 12.7 cents per litre (cpl), with most of their sites selling at 124.9 cpl.
This signals the start of a new petrol profit cycle in Perth.
Over the last few months, petrol prices in the metropolitan area have been following a two-week cycle. This means that petrol prices increase over a two to three day period and then slowly decrease over the next week and a half. For most of the year, the start of the petrol profit cycle has been occurring fortnightly on a Sunday or Monday.
This means that the average price of unleaded petrol (ULP) across Perth could be on the way up over the next few days. FuelWatch is encouraging motorists to buy their petrol today or tomorrow while cheaper prices are still available and to check petrol prices and locations before they buy.
The cheapest prices today start at 108.7cpl, with more than half of metro service stations still selling petrol at 115.1 cpl or less.
Motorists can find the best prices and reward retailers with lower prices by checking the FuelWatch website at www.fuelwatch.wa.gov.au or by phoning 1300 550 808.
