Unleaded Petrol Price Hike

Some metropolitan BP outlets are hiking the price of unleaded petrol (ULP) by up to 12 cents per litre tomorrow, to 108.9cpl, following similar movements at some BP sites today.
The average price of ULP across Perth on Wednesday 17 December will be 98.4cpl, but more than 200 outlets will be selling for less than this price.
FuelWatch is encouraging Perth motorists to buy their petrol today while cheaper prices are still available, and to check prices at FuelWatch before they buy.
Tomorrow’s cheapest ULP is available for:
- 95.7cpl at United Roleystone in the eastern suburbs;
- 95.9cpl at four sites in the northern suburbs; and
- 95.9cpl at five sites in the southern suburbs.

Background notes:
- Fuel prices in Perth are primarily influenced by the price of refined petrol in Singapore and the USD/AUD exchange rate, not the day-to-day price of crude oil;
- Prices have been falling consistently since 17 October 2008 and are now at February 2005 levels;
- The average has been decreasing for 62 consecutive days including tomorrow, or since 17 October 2008, when the average price hit a high of 149.5cpl; and
- Today’s average is 98.5cpl. The last time the average was 98.5cpl was 17 February 2005.
