Sick leave
The Minimum Conditions of Employment Act 1993 provides two weeks paid sick leave per year for full time and part time employees
The Minimum Conditions of Employment Act 1993 (MCE Act) provides permanent employees to paid sick leave equal to the number of hours they ordinarily work in a two week period - up to 76 hours per year.
DOCEP has developed a calculation sheet to assist in calculating the sick leave entitlement for full time and part time employees.
Employers can request reasonable proof of illness when sick leave is taken.
Unused sick leave is cumulative, and all employees are eligible to use their sick leave entitlement as carer's leave in certain circumstances.
