Western Australian Science Awards

The Western Australian Science Awards were established in 2002 to honour the outstanding and groundbreaking achievements of Western Australia's science and innovation community and recognise the important role of science in the State.The awards cover all fields of science, including the natural, medical, applied and technological sciences, engineering and mathematical sciences. They are mainly individual awards. The winner in each category receives a commemorative plaque or trophy, a certificate and a cash prize.
The 2011 Awards celebrated the State's best scientists, science educators and science communicators in five categories:
:
- Scientist of the Year $50,000
- Early Career Scientist of the Year $10,000
- Science Communication Initiative of the Year $10,000
- Science/Mathematics Educator of the Year: Primary $10,000
- Science/Mathematics Educator of the Year: Secondary $10,000
- An inductee to the WA Science Hall of Fame was also announced and awarded $10,000.
