The Western Australian Industry and Export Awards are the State's most prestigious business awards. They acknowledge the innovation, hard work and success of businesses, large and small, in reaching new markets.
These awards now in their 24th year, also acknowledge the important contribution that Western Australian businesses make to the local economy through job creation and increased prosperity in the community.
Companies entering in these categories do not have to be exporters. These three categories are WA only.
C.Y. OConnor Award for Excellence in Engineering and Technology
Awarded for excellence in engineering, technology, medical technology, information technology and/or technical research and development.
Marketing and Design Excellence Award
Awarded for outstanding achievement or excellence in a marketing campaign or implementation of a design.
Innovation Excellence Award
Awarded for outstanding achievement or excellence in developing an innovative commercial product, process, service or technology.
Export Award Categories
State winners in these categories automatically progress to the national Australian Export Awards program as finalists.
For outstanding international success in the field of agricultural products, services or technology including processed foods and beverages and the forestry, fisheries and fibres industries.
Business Services new category for 2013
For outstanding international success in a business service including legal, accounting, administration and support services, business management, marketing services, franchising and licensing, finance and insurance, market research and translation services.
Creative Industries changed from Arts and Entertainment
For outstanding international success across all creative industries including advertising, art, craft, design, fashion, film, music, performing arts, photogaphy, publishing, softwre, games, TV, radio and video games.
Education and Training
For outstanding innovation and international success in the field of education and training services, expertise and curriculum, including vocational training.
Environmental Solutions new category for 2013
For outstanding international success in environmental solutions, clean energy innovation, materials and energy efficiency, waste and water management, green buildings and R&D collaboration.
Healthcare and Biotechnology new category for 2013
For outstanding international success in medical healthcare biotechnology fields in both services and products.
Information and Communication Technology Award
For outstanding international success in the field of information and communication products, technology or services that are concerned with the storage, retrieval, manipulation, transmission or receipt of digital data including software and games development.
Infrastructure and Construction new category for 2013
For outstanding contribution by an Australian company to an international project involving architecture, engineering, infrastructure and constructions services and products
Manufacturing changed for 2013
For outstanding international success by a manufacturer of any size.
Minerals and Energy Award (including related services)
For outstanding international success in the production of primary processing of extractive and value-added minerals or energy products, technology, equipment and services to the minerals and energy industries.
For outstanding international success by a business whose head office is based in a non-metropolitan location.
For outstanding international success by any business with a total annual sales not exceeding $5m.
