New training in safety awareness for the construction industry

As of 1 January 2007, WorkSafe inspectors will begin enforcing the Construction Safety Awareness Training laws. Duty holders ie main contractors, employers etc, have the obligation to ensure that people don’t undertake construction work without completing the training.  Employees should ensure that they complete the training.  WorkSafe inspectors will be even-handed in their approach to enforcement of the laws.  All duty holders may be subject to enforcement action if anybody is found not to have done the necessary training.
