Approved WorkSafe Plan assessor training program

Approved WorkSafe Plan Assessor Training is provided by the Industrial Foundation for Accident Prevention (IFAP).  IFAP are the only training provider for this course and are contracted to WorkSafe for this purpose.  For accreditation purposes, the WorkSafe Division of the Department of Consumer and Employment Protection requires written confirmation from the approved training provider that a person has achieved the learning outcomes set down for the WorkSafe Plan Assessor Training course.

Course Objectives

This course is designed to equip participants with the requisite knowledge and skills to accurately assess the:

  • adequacy of an organisation's OSH management systems;
  • safety practices for conformance to the systems; and
  • levels of compliance with the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984 (WA);
  • in accordance with the WorkSafe Plan Assessment process.

Expected Outcomes

On successful completion of the course, attendees will be provided with a certificate of participation. This certificate will authorise them to:

  • plan and conduct an initial WorkSafe Plan Assessment under the guidance of a Senior WorkSafe Plan Assessor for submission to the WorkSafe Division.

The WorkSafe Plan assessment must be submitted to the WorkSafe Division within 12 months of completion of the theoretical component. Submissions are to meet set evaluation criteria satisfying the WorkSafe Plan Assessor Certification requirement.

Duration of theoretical training course

3 days.

Note: Recognition of current competency (RCC) may exempt some applicants from attending Day 1.
