The Building Commission wishes to draw your attention to a consultation being undertaken that is of relevance to the building industry. Details of the consultation and how to make a submission are available via the links below.

As this review and subsequent consultations are not being carried out by the Building Commission, you will need to direct any submissions or questions to the relevant agency.

About the consultation

New caravan parks and camping grounds legislation is being developed to replace the Caravan Parks and Camping Grounds Act 1995 (the Act).

The aim is to provide a legislative framework which better meets the needs of consumers, operators and regulating authorities, reduces red tape and safeguards the health and safety of everyone. Of particular interest are sections 4 and 5 of the consultation paper that deal with ‘building standards’ and ‘buildings allowed’.

As part of the review and development process, the Department of Local Government and Communities has released a consultation paper to invite public comment on how the new act could operate. This consultation paper is an initiative of the Western Australia Caravan and Camping Action Plan, which is supported by the State Government’s Royalties for Regions program.

The consultation paper, feedback form and flyer can be found at:
www.dlgc.wa.gov.au/CPCG-Consultation-Paper.

Submissions close on 1 September 2014.
