Retail trading hours extended for upcoming public holidays

This announcement is for:
Consumer

With ANZAC Day occurring on a weekend this year, shoppers and retailers are to be reminded that all general retail shops must remain closed on Saturday 25 April 2020.

The reminder comes as the State Government approves an additional four hours of trading for general retail shops in the Perth metropolitan area on the Labour Day, Easter Monday and the additional ANZAC Day public holiday.

Larger shops will be able to trade any time between 8am until 6pm on Monday 2 March 2020 (Labour Day), Monday 13 April (Easter Monday) and Monday 27 April (the additional ANZAC Day public holiday). Normal trading hours for these public holidays are 11am to 5pm.

Retailers holding small shop certificates can open 24 hours.

The Retail Trading Hours Act enables the Minister for Commerce to vary public holiday trading hours in the Perth metropolitan area, other than on Christmas Day, Good Friday and ANZAC Day when general retail shops must remain closed.

More information on retail trading hours’ laws is available on the Consumer Protection website.
