eNotice setup

Before you start lodging eNotices it is important that you take the time to set up eNotice correctly and in a way that works best for your electrical contracting business.

Before Notices of Completion can be lodged, each Nominee (including those who also hold an Electrical Contractor licence) must self register in eNotice under your/their own Electrician licence.

Electrical Contractors can then set up other people in their company as eNotice users, as shown in the following table:

Follow the below steps to ensure that your eNotice setup is complete:

Step 1 – Get your Nominee(s) to register

Each of your Nominees must register under their Electrician licence to use eNotice (this includes Nominees who also hold an Electrical Contractor licence).

Once registered as an eNotice user, Nominees are able to lodge Notices of Completion and Electrical Safety Certificates on behalf of the Electrical Contractor(s) that they are a Nominee for.

The process of assigning and removing nominees for your business has not changed and the current Building and Energy forms and process must continue to be used.

Note: If you have an Electrical Contractor licence and are the sole Nominee and do not want to register other users for your company, then your eNotice setup is complete - you do not need to complete the following steps. If you want to register other electricians and/or administration staff to use eNotice, you need to complete steps 2 - 4.

Step 2 – Register under your electrical contractor licence

Once you register under your Electrical Contractor licence, you are able to complete the Electrical Contractor functions shown in the ‘Types of eNotice users’ table above.

If you are a Nominee as well as an Electrical Contractor, you must also register in eNotice under your Electrician licence to be able to lodge Notices of Completion and Electrical Safety Certificates (see Step 1 above).

Your Nominees recorded with Building and Energy are automatically displayed in eNotice under the ‘User Management’ menu option.

Step 3 – Get your electricians to register

If you require any of your Electricians (other than your Nominees) to use eNotice, then they must first register under their Electrician licence and obtain their personal User ID.

Then, in the ‘User Management’ menu option, select ‘Add new authority’, enter the Electrician’s User ID and assign them the appropriate authorities, as shown in the ‘Types of eNotice users’ table over page, to perform the work you require.

They cannot lodge Notices of Completion – this can only be done by your Nominees.

Step 4 – Register administration users

Using the ‘User Management’ menu option, you can register office staff and/or apprentices as Administration users and provide them with one or more authorities as shown in the ‘Types of eNotice users’ table over page.

They cannot lodge Notices of Completion or Electrical Safety Certificates - this can only be done by your Nominees/Electricians.
