Signage

This page is for:
Painter

Registered painters and decorators must erect on all works under their control a legible sign of reasonable dimensions showing their name and registration number (as it appears on their certificate of registration).

Please note that it is not sufficient to provide only a trading name.

In the case of a partnership or company, the sign must also include the name and registration number of the nominated supervisor. The Building Services (Registration) Regulations 2011 require that the sign:

  • must be located in a prominent position on the site and be able to be read by members of the public from outside the site;
  • must be of reasonable dimensions and written in clearly legible letters; and
  • must contain the following details:
  1. Name and registration number of the painting and decorating contractor.
  2. Contact telephone number for the painting and decorating contractor.
  3. Name and registration number of the nominated supervisor for the painting and decorating contractor.

Failure to comply with the signage requirements under Regulation 21 of the Building Services (Registration) Regulations 2011 may result in prosecution proceedings being commenced.
