IMPORTANT NOTICE TO APPLICANTS - EXAMINATION PATHWAYS SET 2 AND SET 4 HAVE CEASED EFFECTIVE 31 AUGUST 2018 AND ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE
The Building Services (Registration) Regulations 2011 (WA) have been amended, removing the Building Services Board examinations as a qualification pathway for painting practitioner registration.
Currently, painting practitioner applicants under set 2 and 4 are required to demonstrate sufficient experience equivalent to that possessed by a person who has completed the 52202 Course in Painter’s Registration. The regulations currently allow the Board to conduct examinations to assess this knowledge and skill in relation to painting work. The examinations will only be available between February and June 2018, and applications need to be submitted on or before 31 August 2018.
If you are intending to undertake, or currently undertaking, Board examinations you need to be aware of the limited time available. Further information is available by calling Licensing Services on 1300 304 064.
Once you have completed and passed all examinations, Licensing Services must receive your complete application for practitioner registration on or before 31 August 2018.
If you have not completed the 52202 Course in Painter’s Registration or an equivalent qualification as determined by the Board and you intend to undertake the Board’s examinations, you will need to undertake the examinations before applying to be registered.
Applicants under set 4 are also required to complete a Practical Trades Test. Please contact South Metropolitan TAFE (Thornlie) or the Master Painters’ Association Skills (Maylands) for further information.
