Building contractor registration
New registration (first time)
Individuals, partnerships and companies that wish to contract with others to provide building work valued over $20,000 must be registered as a 'building contractor' and demonstrate a financial and organisational capacity. Partnerships and companies will also be required to have at least one nominated supervisor who is a registered 'building practitioner'.
To apply for registration as a building contractor, refer to the Building contractor application guidelines, complete the required application forms below and submit, along with your payment and supporting documentation. Time frame for application processing
Most building contractor applications are determined within thirteen weeks. You can assist by submitting all of the information required in your application and allow sufficient time for it to be fully assessed.
