The Motor Vehicle Dealers Act requires each applicant for a car market operator's registration to have suitable premises to operate from.

If the proposed yard is currently registered in the name of another operator, the existing Certificate of Authorised Premises must be surrendered before a new one may be issued to the new operator.

The Commissioner can attach conditions or restrictions to any premises approval.
