Times allowed to contact consumers

There are different times set by law for when a salesperson is allowed to contact you depending on whether the contact is by phone or in person.

By phone

Telemarketing calls and fax marketing must not be made on:

  • Sunday or a public holiday;
  • Weekdays - before 9 am or after 8 pm; or
  • Saturday - before 9 am or after 5 pm.

In person

A salesperson must not visit you on:

  • Sunday or a public holiday;
  • Weekdays - before 9 am or after 6 pm; or 
  • Saturday - before 9 am or after 5 pm.

However, a salesperson may visit you at any time with your consent.
