Travel agents
The Travel Agents Act 1985 introduced the licensing of travel agents principally to ensure travel agent businesses are run by "fit and proper" agents and who have sufficient financial resources.
The Act also provided for the establishment of the Travel Compensation Fund to safeguard against loss of money by consumers in the event of defalcation or default by a travel agent. It also set minimum standards of experience and qualifications for persons involved in the management of travel agencies.
The Trading fairly page was developed to help agents understand your rights and responsibilities.
