The Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984 sets out particular ‘duties’ for designers, manufacturers, importers, suppliers, installers and users of plant. Plant includes any machinery, equipment, appliance, implement, or tool and any component or fitting thereof or accessory thereto (Section 3 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984).
Familiarising yourself with the material in this guide for designers, manufacturers, importers, suppliers and installers of plant is a good place to start in understanding these duties.
