About the Science and Innovation Studentship Awards
The awards program promotes research interaction between industry and academia, with a focus on issues essential to long-term development and modernisation of WA industry.
The program seeks to encourage creativity and innovation in science students/graduates, with students allowed to broaden their professional experience and gain valuable skills and experience in developing and applying their own ideas.
Students who win a Science and Innovation Studentship Award are provided with a financial assistance package to broaden their professional experience and gain valuable skills and experience in developing and applying their own ideas. This is achieved through conducting a full-time 10-week project during the university summer break (Dec – Feb), with a private sector host organisation.
Please note: The awards program for 2009 has been postponed. Information about the 2010 program will be available here next year.
Information on becoming a host organisation
In addition to gaining the benefit of the research, host companies also have the opportunity to
form or strengthen ties with tertiary research institutions.
By providing us with details about a proposed project, the Department can match your company with a student from a relevant discipline. Alternatively, you can contact a university student directly and ask them to contact the Scholarships Officer at their university.
To be considered an eligible host organisation you must be currently operating within the Western Australian private sector, possess an ABN and/or ACN as applicable and be able to offer a research project of 10-weeks duration in a science field.
Please note: The awards program for 2009 has been postponed. Information about becoming a host organisation for the 2010 program will be available here next year.
