It’s the Real Deal for youth
The Real Deal
The Real Deal booklet and CD aims to make young West Australians aware of their consumer rights and responsibilities. Armed with information and advice from DOCEP, young people are better able to make smart choices and solve problems as a consumer.
Some of the important issues covered in the CD and booklet include credit cards and financial loans, mobile phone and other contracts, tenancy and buying cars.
The Real Deal CD contains four episodes of popular 2004 radio program jointly produced by Consumer Protection and Groove FM, a youth-managed and operated radio station. The radio program includes
- vox pop interviews with Perth youth;
- a comedy duo’s interpretation of consumer issues;
- interviews with Consumer Protection staff;
The Real Deal CD also features new tracks from emerging West Australian Hip Hop and R&B artists.
The Real Deal booklet is packed with lots of great advice on consumer rights as well as tips on how to avoid being ripped off.
The Real Deal booklet and CD is radically different from regular government publications because it uses material produced by young people themselves.
