Consumer Protection is advising customers of Gerry Gibbs Camera House in Cannington that the store has closed down and the company has gone into liquidation.
Only the Cannington store is affected. All other Camera House stores in WA are independently owned and remain operating.
Acting Commissioner for Consumer Protection David Hillyard said the liquidator has advised Consumer Protection that customers who have fully paid for purchases or repairs should be able to collect their items.
“If this is not the case, consumers can contact Consumer Protection for further advice and we can take the matter up with the liquidator,” Mr Hillyard said.
“We are told that those people who have paid deposits on purchases yet to be delivered will become unsecured creditors and will need to await the conclusion of the liquidation process before finding out if they will get their money back.”
Affected customers can contact the liquidator, Melsom Robson Chartered Accountants, direct on 6242 0700 for further instructions on how to resolve any outstanding orders or repairs, or how to register as an unsecured creditor.
Consumers who have fully paid for purchases or repairs and have not received their goods, can contact Consumer Protection by email consumer@commerce.wa.gov.au or call 1300 30 40 54.
