Consumer Protection will be hitting the road this month with visits planned to Wyndham, Kununurra, Warmun and Halls Creek.

Senior Regional Officer for the Kimberley Annetta Bellingeri will be making presentations to schools and community groups about consumer rights.

“It is a great opportunity for people to learn more about their consumer rights and to provide Consumer Protection with feedback about the main issues in their towns and communities,” Ms Bellingeri said.

As well as taking complaints from people who have been unable to resolve problems with retailers and/or service providers, Consumer Protection will be making sure local businesses are complying with rules and regulations.

“Certain businesses such as motor vehicle dealers and repairers need to be licensed and in a more general sense goods and service-providers have responsibilities under the Australian Consumer Law.

“Living in a remote or regional area should not leave consumers at a disadvantage,” she said.

Consumer Protection’s tour of the East Kimberley will begin on 22 June 2015.
