Getting Employment Right Grants Program

This announcement is for:
EmployerEmployee / worker

As part of the State Government’s strategies to combat wage theft, the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) is co-ordinating the Getting Employment Right Grants Program (Grants Program) in 2020/21.

Under the Grants Program, applications will be assessed and DMIRS will allocate funding to successful employer and employee organisations to develop and deliver education initiatives that will assist in combatting wage theft in Western Australia.

The Grants Program will provide funding for:

  • employer organisations to undertake education initiatives that inform small business employers of their employment obligations for all staff and educate employers on the potential penalties for non-compliance with employment obligations; and
  • employee organisations to undertake education initiatives that inform employees that they are entitled to the appropriate minimum or award pay rates and entitlements for the work that they do; and educate employees on how to seek assistance with resolving wage theft or underpayment issues.

Each employer and employee organisation seeking funding must submit a comprehensive proposal detailing the amount of funding sought and how it will conduct an education initiative for either small business employers or employees.

Grant funding applications close on 3 August 2020.

For information on the Grants Program, please contact Sally Mason or telephone 6552 9363.
