The Ministerial Review of the State Industrial Relations System has attracted extensive input, with 64 written submissions being received and a number of stakeholder meetings being held.
The State Government is reviewing the industrial relations system to ensure it is contemporary, fair and accessible. The review is being undertaken by Mr Mark Ritter SC, assisted by Mr Stephen Price MLA.
Submissions have been received from employer and employee organisations, not for profit organisations, government agencies and individuals. The non-confidential submissions are available on the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety website at www.dmirs.wa.gov.au/labour-relations.
Private Sector Labour Relations Director, Lorraine Field, who heads the Secretariat for the Review, said today the number and quality of the submissions received demonstrated the high level of engagement with the Review.
“The next stage of the Review is to analyse the submissions and publish an Issues Report. The Issues Report will be published in February 2018,” Ms Field said.
“Interested individuals, organisations and agencies will then have the opportunity to provide further comments or submissions in response.
“When these comments and submissions have been considered by Mr Ritter and Mr Price, the Final Report of the Review will be prepared and submitted to the Minister for Commerce and Industrial Relations.”
Ms Field said this was expected to occur at the end of April 2018.
Further information on the Review can be obtained on the Labour Relations website at www.dmirs.wa.gov.au/labour-relations.
