Wage theft is the systematic and deliberate underpayment of wages or entitlements to a worker.
The WA Government’s wage theft website directs workers in the state and national industrial relations systems on how to anonymously report wage theft to the relevant Government department. The Wage theft website content is available in English, Arabic, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, Italian, Korean and Vietnamese.
The process for reporting wage theft is different depending on whether the business is in the state or national industrial relations systems.
To report wage theft to the relevant Government department, you therefore first need to determine whether the business is in the state or national industrial relations system. Which of these two systems covers a particular business depends on the type of business structure.
The state system covers businesses and organisations (and their employees) that are operated by sole traders, unincorporated partnerships, unincorporated trusts, and incorporated associations and not-for-profit organisations that are not trading or financial corporations.
The national system covers businesses and organisations (and their employees) that are operated by a company (Pty Ltd businesses), incorporated partnerships, incorporated trust arrangements, and incorporated associations and not-for-profit organisations that are trading or financial corporations.
