Location 745, Dalyup

A wild fire occurred at Location 745 Bates Road, Dalyup, about 20 km west of Esperance, on Thursday 2 December 2005. EnergySafety carried out an investigation into the cause of the fire and determined that the fire started when a network operator's power pole fell to the ground. The pole failed during strong winds.

Location 1501, Dalyup

A wild fire occurred at Location 1501 Dalyup, about 40 km west of Esperance, on Thursday 2 December 2005. EnergySafety carried out an investigation into the cause of the fire. The Investigation revealed that a live high voltage conductor became detached from a pole mounted insulator and clashed with the under-slung earth conductor. The resulting flashover released hot metal particles which ignited dry stubble below, starting the wild fire.
