Provisional improvement notices

A provisional improvement notice (PIN) is a notice issued by an elected safety and health representative about a safety and health issue in the workplace. Only elected safety and health representatives who have completed the training required to become a qualified safety and health representative can issue a provisional improvement notice (PIN).

It is important to note that a PIN is only issued when consultation between the safety and health representative and employer has failed to resolve the health and safety issue.  If  practicable, the  safety and health representative  must also consult  with any other elected  representatives for  the workplace.

The person who has been issued with the PIN may request it to be reviewed by a WorkSafe inspector
