The Work Health and Safety Act 2020 introduced the term ‘person conducting a business or undertaking’, which broadens the traditional definition of an ‘employer’. 

The PCBU (e.g. a self-employed mechanic, partner in an accounting firm, company running a child care business) has a duty to ensure the regulator is notified immediately after becoming aware a notifiable incident has occurred.
