Following recent bushfires in Western Australia, the Building Commission would like to remind people of the availability of the publication ‘Building for better protection in bushfire areas’.

The publication provides guidance to homeowners who are building or renovating their home in a bushfire prone area. It covers the regulated construction requirements and building standards for new homes and assists those who wish to upgrade their existing homes for better protection.

The online version of the publication was recently updated to reflect the change from the Fire & Emergency Services Authority (FESA) to the Department of Fire and Emergences Services (DFES) as well as clarifying information on the building approval process.
