Are you bush fire ready?

Western Australia has some of the driest climatic regions in Australia and is prone to bush fire attack, particularly around the south west regions. In the past few years there have been numerous fire events that have devastated bushland areas and destroyed or damaged properties.

Building and Energy's Building in bush fire prone areas webpage provides information  if you are planning to undertake building work in bushfire prone areas, including the installation of roof mounted evaporative coolers in such locations.

Building and Energy’s Building for better protection in bush fire areas guide is available if you would like general information to improve the design and construction of your home to minimise potential damage from bush fires, including upgrading your existing home for better protection from bush fires.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) provides a number of helpful publications about living and building in bush fire prone areas, including facts about evaporative coolers.
