The below information provides a description of activities which Western Australia (WA) licensed plumbing contractors are permitted to perform. If you are a WA licensee visiting another state under JobPass, you are only allowed to perform the activities listed below.

Scope of work

Carry out and exercise general direction and control over the carrying out of authorised work by the holder of a tradesperson’s licence or a tradesperson’s licence (drainage plumbing).

Supervise the carrying out of authorised work by an apprentice, pre-apprentice or the holder of a provisional tradesperson’s licence or provisional tradesperson’s licence (drainage plumbing).

Can submit notices and certificates of compliance for plumbing work.

Compliance requirements in WA

To get a licence in WA

  • Must hold a plumbing tradesperson’s licence
  • Must have an Australian Police Check
  • Must be a person of good character and repute and a fit and proper person to hold a licence – a criminal record is obtained
  • Must pay an application fee

To keep a licence in WA

  • Must renew the registration every three years
  • Must submit appropriate compliance certificates
  • Subject to a fit and proper assessment at time of renewal
  • They must comply with the Plumbers Licensing Act 1995 and Plumbers Licensing and Plumbing Standards Regulations 2000.
