Archive - Progress of the Ministerial Advisory Panel

The Ministerial Advisory Panel (MAP) has decided on its procedures, and will meet fortnightly to develop drafting instructions for a modernised Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act in Western Australia.   The National Model WHS Act, of 2016, developed by Safe Work Australia, will be considered in detail and developed for eventual drafting of the new Western Australian WHS Act. The components of the Model WHS Act to be considered at each MAP meeting are listed below.

The Ministerial Advisory Panel has now completed its review of the Model WHS Act, and has provided its recommendations to the Hon Bill Johnston MLA,  Minister for Mines, and Petroleum, Commerce and Industrial Relations. The next stage of the process towards a modernised  Work Health and Safety Bill for Western Australia will be a two-month public consultation period, which will be announced by the Minister.
