Consumer Protection Media Policy

This publication is for:
ConsumerLicence holders

The Consumer Protection Media Policy was reviewed and updated in January 2019.

The Media Policy provides all Consumer Protection officers with guidelines about which officers are authorised to communicate with the media in order to ensure a high level of consistency and accuracy in media coverage of Consumer Protection matters.  The term “media” in the Policy applies to radio, television, newspapers and social media.

Most often Consumer Protection’s contact with media is through its Principal Media Liaison Officer or another member of the media team.

The Media Policy includes:

  • information about who is authorised to communicate with the media;
  • what can be discussed with the media and what cannot be disclosed;
  • guidelines for behaviour; and
  • information about handling media enquiries.

Other Consumer Protection policies are also available.
