EnergySafety carried out an investigation into the cause of the fire in Dunsborough.  It was determined that the cause of the fire was a leakage current due to dust or salt spray on the insulators, combined with light rain and high humidity.  The current generated enough heat to ignite the wood and the falling hot embers ignited the vegetation on the ground.
