Tenancy Law Family Violence Amendments Training

Tenancy WA in conjunction with the Women’s Council for Domestic and Family Violence Services WA are providing training on the upcoming ‘Residential Tenancies Legislation Amendment (Family Violence) Bill 2018’. This Bill, which will come into law in March/April 2019 (exact commencement date TBC) will provide significant new options to anyone experiencing family violence whilst party to a tenancy agreement. Alongside other changes, it allows tenants to remove themselves, or a perpetrator from a lease with appropriate documentation.

A number of training events have been created in order to assist professionals working in the sector to navigate the new legislation. Delivered by a specialist solicitor from Tenancy WA, the training will be beneficial to anyone working directly or indirectly with clients who may be at risk of experiencing family violence while renting. See below for training dates appropriate to you.

Please note that some, but not all, of these events will have video conferencing facilities available for those in regional areas to join. For those outside the Perth metro region, further strategies are currently being developed with regional partners for training in this area including webinar and train the trainer options.

Please contact cle@tenancywa.org.au if you would like to be kept informed of future training events in this area.

New sessions are to be confirmed. Please visit Tenancy WA for enquiries or further sessions.
