Consumer Protection promotes fair trading and protecting the rights of consumers and businesses in Western Australia. Consumer Protection WA is also responsible for some occupational licences, buying, selling and renting homes, cooperatives and not for profit legislation.

Australian Consumer Law
On 1 January 2011, the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) was introduced. Detailed information about your rights and responsibilities is available on the consumers and businesses pages.
Boards and committees
The licence and regulatory role of five statutory Boards was transfered to the Commissioner for Consumer Protection as of 1 July 2011. These boards are the Land Valuers Licensing Board, Motor Vehicle Dealers Board, Real Estate and Business Agents Supervisory Board and Settlement Agents Supervisory Board. Australian Consumer Survey Report
The Australian Consumer Survey Report is now available and explores existing consumer and business experience and understanding of consumer laws, their application and enforcement. Read more about the Survey.
