New laws in 2013
There will changes to the residential tenancy laws from 1 July 2013 inlcuding prescribed forms, compulsory property condition reports, minimum security levels and bond lodgement requirements. Real estate agents and their clients are encouraged to watch the information videos and test their knowledge on the landlords e-learning program. There are also free landlord seminars are being held in the metropolitan area.

Rules for agents to combat real estate fraud
Agents must conduct mandatory identification checks of all people wishing to sell their property. This aims to better protect WA property owners following fraudulent sales of Perth properties.
The guidance notes below have been developed to assist agents and sales representatives in their compliance with the amended Code of Conduct.

Note: From 1 July 2011 responsibility for the regulation of the real estate industry in Western Australia was transferred from the Real Estate and Business Agents Supervisory Board to the Department of Commerce and the Commissioner for Consumer Protection.
