This page contains frequently asked questions relating to statutory certificates for some statutory position appointments at mining operations.

General

Is there a minimum number of hours I must complete in a “shift”?

If working full-time in a role, there is no minimum number of hours. If working part-time in a role 12 hours = 1 shift.

What if I’m unable to get my former employer to sign my experience template?

Candidates should complete a statutory declaration and include supporting documentations such as letters from their former employer. You must include the reason you were unable to have the experience template signed by your employer.

First class mine manager’s certificate for non-coal mines

Is there a minimum age requirement to attain a first class mine manager certificate?

Yes, the minimum age requirement is 25 years of age. Candidate’s age will be checked at the examination during the ID check in process. Do not upload any ID documentation to the application through the Mines statutory positions portal.

Underground supervisor's certificate

Is there a minimum age requirement to attain an underground supervisor certificate?

Yes, the minimum age requirement is 23 years of age. Candidate’s age will be checked at the examination during the ID check in process. Do not upload any ID documentation to the application through the Mines statutory positions portal. 

Quarry manager

Is there a minimum age requirement to attain a quarry manager certificate?

Yes, the minimum age requirement is 24 years of age. Candidate’s age will be checked at the examination during the ID check in process. Do not upload any ID documentation to the application through the Mines statutory positions portal. 

Restricted quarry manager

Is there a minimum age requirement to attain a restricted quarry manager certificate?

Yes, the minimum age requirement is 21 years of age. Candidate’s age will be checked at the examination during the ID check in process. Do not upload any ID documentation to the application through the Mines statutory positions portal.
